A loving community of Christ-followers glorifying God together by making disciples of all nations

The Original Valley Girls

Whether it’s things we have presently or things we hope to have in the future, trusting in the comforts and securities of the present world is dangerous business.

The story of Lot’s wife and daughters is a tragic one, but one the Church can and must learn from. Lot’s wife had so much of her hope and identity invested in material possessions that she couldn’t resist a final longing glance back at Sodom–a glance that cost her her life. Lot’s daughters survived the overthrow of the two wicked cities of the Jordan River valley, Sodom and Gomorrah, but time and perverted choices would prove that they too were not trusting God to provide for them.

As Christians we must hold the things of this world very loosely and be willing to flee earthly entanglements  without so much as a backward glance, believing that God has already provided–in His Son–far more hope, identity, comfort, and security than anything the world has to offer.
