Do-Over Button: What the Church Can Learn from Sarah

Everybody makes bad choices. For this reason everyone would love to have a “Do-Over” button that could be pressed the moment we feel the pain of poor judgment. But whether it’s words, thoughts, or actions we would go back and re-do if given the option, the notion is really a fanciful one; this life simply doesn’t afford us do-overs. Choices are real, and so are consequences!

In Israel’s great Matriarch, Sarah, the church finds a testimony to the truth stated above. Nevertheless Sarah’s inability to re-do her most disastrous moment is just one more step in a sequence of human failures leading up to God’s grandest success–His gracious re-do for all of mankind’s guilt: the cross.

I hope you’ll take some time to click the image above and listen to today’s message. Ask yourself: Am I ready to make the move to receive God’s grace by trusting in Christ for the forgiveness of my sin–that is, all the moments I can’t redo–and the salvation of my soul? Or, Now that I’ve received God’s grace, am I ready to make the move to show God’s grace either to those I’ve hurt or to those who’ve hurt me?
